Why We Built This Site
Michigan keeps a great deal of court information open, but the hard part is knowing which office holds the piece you need. A warrant does not live in one place. The court that signs an order sets the charge and the release terms. The sheriff's office handles service and custody. Family and support matters belong with the Friend of the Court. Traffic and misdemeanor files belong with the District Court, and felony files belong with the Circuit Court.
Lake County adds its own wrinkle. No public sheriff warrant list was found, no municipal court exists inside the county, and the courts share one phone number across several divisions. A reader can check one office, find nothing, and wrongly conclude the question is closed. We wrote the county's contacts, court names, and request steps into one reference so that does not happen.
What You Will Find Here
- Warrant lookups: how a warrant lookup moves from the public case search to the court that owns the file
- Outstanding warrants: what an outstanding warrant means and why the county publishes no list of them
- Missed court dates: how bench warrants begin and which division holds them
- Charges: how an arrest warrant starts with a complaint and a probable-cause review
- Traffic cases: how a traffic warrant follows a missed citation and a default
- Village business: where a municipal warrant question goes when no city court exists
- Public appeals: what a most wanted list would be and which official channels replace it
What We Cannot Do
This site is a reference, and a reference has limits. We do not hold records, and we cannot act for any office.
- We cannot confirm whether a warrant exists for any person
- We cannot recall, quash, or clear a warrant
- We cannot accept a payment, post a bond, or arrange a surrender
- We cannot give legal advice or predict what a judge will decide
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or office hour listed here is current today
Only the court that issued an order or the sheriff's office that carries it out can confirm the status. We can point you to the right office, and the answer still has to come from them.
Search Partners
Some pages carry search boxes powered by outside providers. Those companies set their own prices and run their own services. When a search leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee, and that revenue keeps the site free to read. We do not control what the providers charge or what their results contain, and none of their output counts as an official warrant check.
